Structural Technician / Engineer
A small independent consultancy, looking for a Structural CAD Technician or Graduate level Civil or Structural Engineer with a building structures background or keen interest in building projects, to further expand their growing team.
Your New Role
The company works on a range of residential new build and refurbishment projects. They are also involved in some mixed use and commercial schemes, projects are typically from £1m - £5m in value. The team is well established with a high level of repeat business from a regular client base built on long term trust. As a small practice, you will benefit from working directly alongside senior engineers who will support your development and look to give you more responsibility for your own projects.
Ideally you will already have 1-2 years’ design experience gained with a UK consultancy, design and build contractor or specialist design team. Alternatively, local Graduate Engineers or Engineering CAD Technicians will also be considered.
Most importantly, you will be interested in building structures and be willing to work as part of a small design team, providing structural design and technical drawing support on projects. You will assist senior engineers, undertaking design analysis and producing working drawings using AutoCAD. As your experience builds you will have the opportunity to work on projects from inception to completion, attending design meetings and completing site surveys.
- HNC/D in Civil / Structural Engineering or similar (degree for Engineers).
- General engineering detailing and AutoCAD
- Knowledge of building regulations
- Locally based in this region or previous connections to the area

Our client is looking for local people; ideally you will already be based in the Cambridge area, or sensible commute from the surrounding local area by train - i.e. Ely, Newmarket, Bury St Edmunds, Huntingdon, North Hertfordshire / Essex etc.
