Engineer / Surveyor

Are you an Engineer or Building Surveyor with experience in materials sampling and on-site structural building investigation? Qualified to HNC/D level Engineering or similar with at least three years’ experience working on a range of building projects in a surveying, site investigation or structural engineering role.


Your New Role

You will be working with an engineering specialist who provide bespoke investigation, structural performance and building condition and analysis services on a wide range of historical and modern building structures. 

As a Investigation Engineer / Surveyor, you will be working primarily on site, 3-5 days a week on projects within the M25. HNC/D level or similar qualifications with a background in civil and structural engineering, structural building surveying or building construction.

With 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role you will be familiar with concrete and masonry materials sampling for lab analysis and recording engineering observations on building condition and performance. An understanding of RC frames, bar condition corrosion and looking at existing structural performance is essential. You could also be involved in structural building surveys, using thermal and photo imaging and some non-destructive testing.

When in the office you will assist the Project Manager with writing client reports based on the lab results and site testing data, for use on building performance and additional loading. Training will be provided in the use of the material sampling equipment, site practices and data collection where appropriate. Interested Engineers, Building Surveyors and Engineering Technicians will be considered but previous experience in a similar role or a strong related background in a range of buildings is essential.

You we need to live locally enough to Hertfordshire, so you can work from the office on non-site days and be willing to travel to sites within the M25, typically 3-5 days a week.

Working as part of an investigation team, you will need a practical background, knowledge of how buildings are built, an interest in problem solving and structures, a willingness to work in a site environment. A full UK driving licence is essential. Due to the security clearance requirements on projects you will need to have been residential in the UK for the last 5 years.

Salary will reflect your relevant materials sampling and structural building investigation experience. As an Investigation Engineer / Surveyor the salary on offer is £28,000 - £35,000.
