Development Project Officer

Do you have a background in Housing, Property or Construction with the desire to move into a full-time development career?

Your New Role

A career within housing development is never dull. Working within a sector worth over £300bn requires talented people with energy and ideas. Over the last decade, the affordable housing sector has experienced significant change, rapidly adapting to what is becoming an increasingly commercial environment.

At Orwell we’re leading the way and are part of a wider consortium of housing providers, jointly working together across East Anglia. We are building strong and sustainable communities by providing high quality affordable homes together with well-designed local community facilities.

Orwell provides development services for these organisations and our team is growing. We now have an opportunity for an ambitious Development Project Officer to join our award-winning organisation.

You will be joining our experienced development team assisting in the formation, implementation and project management of our ambitious development programme.

As our Development Project Officer, you will be involved in a wide range of development activities; from new build construction to refurbishment of properties. This will include the day to day project management of schemes, including identifying risks and monitoring and mitigating these during construction. You will attend site meetings, produce regular progress reports to ensure our schemes are delivered on time, within budget and to our high standards of design and build quality.

You will be a strong communicator, confident in your ability to work with and monitor the performance of consultants and/or contractors during the development of sites and buildings.

To excel in this role, you will need at least two years’ experience working within project management, surveying or construction with good knowledge of affordable housing development.

This opportunity would suit a Graduate Project Manager or Building Surveyor with a consultancy or house building background and the desire to move into a full-time development role. Equally important is your confident personality and your ambition to help drive your career and our organisation forward.

Your new career package

We believe our staff are the core strength of our business. Packages include; Company car, 22 days holiday entitlement, workplace pension, health and wellbeing support service and additional perks at work discount schemes.
