For the second year in a row, our Director, Carl Wright took part in a mock interviewing session, at his old secondary school, interviewing year 11 students at Bassingbourn Village College (BVC)
The event was organised by Cambridge-based careers advisors Form the Future, an organisation that we are always keen to support locally. As they approach the interview season for post-16 choices, Year 11 students were each given a mock interview session to help them prepare for their big day!
The one-to-one interviews were conducted by volunteers from local businesses who spent time with each student, getting to know them and gently questioning their future plans. Feedback was then given, allowing the students to work on their weak points prior to attending a real interview for college, apprenticeship or as practice for future employment.
“It was great to be back at my old school again and I was highly impressed with the students I met during the day, who had clearly thought about their future prospects and plans.
Team work, communication and social skills, gained from outside interests are equally important as the academic qualifications, to employers looking for good all rounders. Hopefully my advice helped make a small difference, it was a rewarding day and everyone did very well.
Good luck to all the students, the future looks bright!”
As an update after the event, students were asked to complete a survey about their experience:
"85% of students said the event has helped them make decisions about their futures and after completing the mock interviews 85% of responses said they feel more confident overall!
