Structural Engineer / Technician

An independent consultancy with a mix of projects and a track record of supporting engineers to success has an excellent opportunity for a Structural Engineer / or Engineering Technician with a buildings background looking to progress to CEng or IEng status.

Our client works on a range of building structures design projects including industrial, healthcare, education and residential schemes typically from £1m - £25m in value. The consultancy is a well established business with a high level of repeat business in these markets built on long term client trust. 

Their Cambridgeshire office has good transport links and offers a full range of structural engineering design consultancy and support services focusing on building structures and residential projects.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be someone that can do a variety of jobs and work as part of a team. You will be working closely with Chartered Engineers gaining excellent experience on a day to day basis and as such our client is looking for someone that wants to get involved in design, undertake CAD drawings and site visits when required, a real team player with a focus on quality.

Our client is willing to consider motivated Engineers with an interest in building a career in building structures. Equally they would also consider an Engineering Technician or CAD technician at ONC /HNC level with at least two years relevant project experience. You must be competent using AutoCAD experience and preferably Revit too, but they training on Revit can be provided if needed. 

You will be responsible providing technical support to project engineers and work on projects from inception to completion and be willing to carry out site inspection, undertake design and detailing as appropriate.

Essential skills

  • Must be locally based or have previous connections to the region
  • ONC, HNC or degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or similar.
  • Flexible approach to work and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and team working skills.
  • Good analytical, IT, presentation and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, demonstrate initiative and be proactive
  • Ability to assess, prioritise and organise self
