Structural Design Engineer
Are you interested in working with a small independent consultant offering real flexibility? Are you stuck in a position where your design skills and potential are being wasted? Or maybe you're looking for a better work / life balance away from the London commute?
We are representing a small, independent engineering consultant that has a range of clients, primarily within the residential sector with occasion commercial and mixed use schemes. They work with a range of clients across the South East ensuring that every day has a different challenge. With an ever-increasing workload, they require a safe pair of hands to support the Senior Engineer with domestic and residential project design from tender right through to client hand over.
If you are a Structural Engineer or Structural Engineering Technician, with another practice, but are someone looking for more autonomy and reward for your own actions then this could be your ideal role. You will help produce designs for residential projects, including new build, refurbishment and domestic extensions. As the role develops you will deal directly and look after end clients, providing technical support to help to solve problems and deliver projects on time. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in associated structural engineering and building control.
Previous residential and domestic design experience will give you a heads start. However, this is not essential, as if your building structures background has been on projects in other sectors, but you would be interested in residential schemes, then your design and technical skills are equally as of interest.
You will have at least three years building structures design experience gained with another UK consultancy or independent, and a broad knowledge of construction and design issues.
Due to the location of projects you will ideally be based in Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, North Hertfordshire / Essex or Buckinghamshire. Candidates currently working in London prepared to travel to Cambridgeshire for part of the week would also be considered. For the right person, flexible working or an initial contract position could be offered as an alternative to permanent employment. A salary circa £25,000 - £36,000 depending on your experience is on offer, with the real prospect of being part of the firms expansion plans.
